Is corn on the cob poisonous to dogs and cats?
The cob is a very common cause of gut blockages in dogs.
Why it's a problem
Sweetcorn itself is fine, but the cob doesn’t break down. Dogs often swallow chunks whole, and they can block the gut, sometimes days later.
Signs to look out for
- Being sick again and again
- Being off food
- Tummy pain
- Straining to poo, or no poo
What to do
Call your vet for advice. They may want to check your dog even if they seem fine now.
